Pens & Pixels is a concept art and illustration collective based in Ottawa. We run bi-monthly events consisting of industry talks, creative jams, art workshops and more.

Kristopher Wadell


Kristopher has worked for a number of years in the film industry both in Ottawa and Vancouver. Focusing on creator owned work, writing and independent production, Kristopher now serves as President at Winter Star Comics.

Steambot Studios


Founded in 2006, Steambot rapidly became a concept art innovator. They have worked on such films as X-men Days of Future Past, Godzilla (2014), and Tron Legacy to name a few, and are currently developing Urbance, their own animated series. 

Fred Sebastian


Fred is the program coordinator of the Concept Art and Illustration Program at Algonquin College. Fred has years of experience working with clients like the Ottawa Citizen and having taught interactive media storytelling at Carleton University.   

Jessica Rousseau


Jessica is a creative in many forms covering fine art, fashion design, costuming, jewellery making, and of course, graphic design. After starting her own business in 2010, she has been passionately working with her clients to help them realize their visions.  


Jamie Muntean


Jamie’s work spans over 13 years in the animation & motion graphics industry. He has worked on everything from ad campaigns to co-creation of fully animated television series to video branding for start-ups, and is a co-founder of the Speakeasy Collective. 

Geof Isherwood


Geof got his start with Marvel Comics, working on such titles as Silver Surfer and Doctor Strange. He has been involved in film as a storyboard and concept artist working with directors such as Bryan Singer, Richard Donner and Darren Aronofsky.

Mike Kent


Mike is a freelance concept artist and Illustrator, schooled in conceptual art and design, with a strong background in gaming. He teaches in the Concept Art Foundations program at Algonquin College and is the founder and coordinator of Pens & Pixels.  

Mary Ellis


Mary is the program coordinator of the Concept Art Foundations Program at Algonquin College. As a teacher and artist she is excited to introduce her students to the wonder of concept art, and share her experience working with a wide range of medias.
