The Newsy News you Need To Know!

The Newsy News You Need To Know!

Pens and Pixels has been running for just over a year and we have had some amazing growth thanks to you our supporters. We have some great things started and plan to bring even more in the new year!

Just this month we started the Pens & Pixels Popcast, an arts, design and pop culture podcast with a crass comedy edge. The response has been huge, with the show hitting the iTunes New & Noteworthy list after just three weeks. Our hosts Cal G. and Mike K. look forward to bringing you more new shows in the coming year. But most of all we want to hear from you, what do you want us to talk about, what news do you want to know. Comment or message us with your ideas, we would love to hear from you!

Also starting this month we held our first monthly meet up! After the demand for more collaborative arts events, post Art Jam, we decided to start hosting monthly meet ups to help our artists connect and grow the community. Hosted at The Blurry Pixel Ottawa's E-sport and gaming bar, we run art challenges, live professional portfolio reviews and much more. So join us every second Thursday of the month from now on!

Coming into the new years Pens & Pixels is excited to bring even more new content and events to our community. First off will be the Art Jams first art book. The reward to the participants that completed the challenge was to have their work from the day published in our now, yearly art book. We will be hosting an Art Jam every year from now on and publishing the work for everyone to see. Participants will receive the book for free but the book will be made available for purchase to the public. Our team is working hard to release this early in the new year.

We have also started our new Youtube channel. Here you can find footage from our events, our video portfolio reviews and more to come. Pens & Pixels aims to provide more content through our youtube channel like art lessons, live paints and professional artist interviews. But we want to know what you want to see here as well, let us know in the comments or by message.

Lastly Coming in the new year will be Pens & Pixels first collaborative event. In Partnership with Ottawa Game Jam (O-Jam) we will be hosting the first full art and development jam. We will bring artists and developers together for a full 48 hour jam to cram out a small game. More exciting news and developments to come on this soon. Keep your internet ears peeled!

Pens & Pixels also want to hear from you, our community. What do you want from Pens & Pixels? What kind of events do you like, which ones so far have been your favourite. What content could we provide, what about our current content do you want more of? Let us know your ideas, see how you could get involved. Our collective is run on its members and we want to hear from you!
